Ick. That is the only word needed to describe the 1980s laminate counter tops in our kitchen. For a small condo its actually got quite a bit of ct space and lots of cabinets too but they’re just ya know kinda… ugly. I know- first world problems. Anyway…
We are planning to
update gut the whole kitchen in a few years so we didn’t want to spend $$$ replacing the ct’s now when they might not work later. Solution? Giani counter top paint! For ~$80 we painted some lovely faux granite onto the laminate 🙂 Btw they’re not paying me to review this or whatever it is that companies do… these opinions are my own, unbiased, confusing thoughts!
The process is fairly easy. Paint on some base, then “minerals” then seal it. The hardest part is trying not to smudge the paint- you want to dab it for a more minerally deposit look. We went with the white diamond kit.
We purposely left some spots imperfect to make it look more natural. Nature isn’t perfect and that’s not our style either! The next step will be painting the cabinets. “When in doubt oak it out” doesn’t suit us. I am hoping to have that done by Tau’s birthday at the end on August. Fingers crossed!!!
